The Scriptures say that Moses led Israel into the wilderness, where they became very thirsty. But when they came to Marah and found water, they couldn’t drink because it was bitter.(Exodus 16:22-25) He then cast a tree into the waters and they became sweet. Moses can only lead sinners into the wilderness and bitterness of death. They are left thirsting for righteousness. Paul said, “And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.”(Romans 7:10) The Law seems a bitter thing, until the tree is thrown into the mix. It is the wooden cross that shows the Law to be what it is-the “Schoolmaster that brings us to Christ.” That’s why Paul concluded, “the Law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”( Romans 7:12) So let the Law do its work before you preach the cross, and watch the bitter suddenly become sweet. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.
